Read the bios on our current Board of Directors – the dedicated team that help keep Bayport Marina running!
I am the President and CEO of Har-Mar, Inc./Slawik Properties with nearly two decades of expertise in planning and executing sales and operational strategies for purchasing, ownership, and management of real estate assets. Additionally, I have a proven record of sustaining bottom line results in turbulent economic times and a track record for negotiating numerous transactions including lease agreements, purchase agreements, and lending instruments that have led to profitable results.
I have been involved with Bayport Marina since its founding in 1988 as one of the charter owners, slip A-57. I (am) returning to the board, after a number years away, having already completed one term and holding the position of Commodore in 2003. I believe my business experience and history with the Marina can be very beneficial to continuing to make this the premier Marina on the St. Croix.
Amy Tolbert, Ph.D., CSP
I first came to Bayport in 1996 with a 28’ vessel as a renter on C-dock. Many years later, I’m proud to be a member of the Bayport Marina Association having various vessels and currently own slips A-4, B-41 and C-45. My two young adult daughters grew up at the Marina and consider it home. I live in Arden Hills, but am at the Marina as much as possible in the summer.
My interests and potential contribution as a Board Member are as follows:
I am principal of ECCO International, a global communications consulting firm based in St Paul, MN. ECCO International was established in 1990 and now has 14 associates worldwide. I am an author, speaker, international consultant and travel enthusiast. I was honored to be part of the Board of Directors (2013-2015) as we entered a time of innovation and growth for the Marina. I participated as a Board member in the role of Marketing/ Communication and Human Resources. I facilitated a session to identify revenue-generating and cost savings measures, of which several of the ideas were acted upon. I led the initiative to revise the job descriptions for both board and staff, create a performance management system with a revised performance appraisal process. This last year, while not on the board, I led a subcommittee to search, identify, interview and select our new General Manager. It was a thorough approach with rigor and has been documented for future staff positions.
I look forward to meeting more of you at the Socials and the Saturday am coffee get-togethers.

I began boating on the St. Croix in 1965 when my family moved to Croixside, three miles south of Marine on the St. Croix. My first boat was an 8-foot skimmer with an 18 HP OB Evinrude motor…and did it fly, much to my mother’s discontent! After graduating from Stillwater High School and then Hamline University in 1973, I had a 43-year career in banking and am now retired! We live in the Excelsior area.
After my parents moved to Bayport in 1982, I started watching the Bayport Marina site and its eventual growth into what it is today. In 2001, my wife, Deb and I purchased slip A-12, and this year (2016) will be the first year we will keep our boat, Croixsening, in the Marina. The St. Croix River is near and dear to my heart and being a part of BMA has been a wonderful connection. As I start my third year on the BMA Board, we are looking forward to spending more time at the Marina and meeting fellow BMA members on the docks!
My name is Joel Lemanski. My wife and I have owned slip (C-33) at BMA for 18 years. We came to Bayport in 1994 for gel coat repairs, fell in love with the marina and never left. I have spent my entire life boating here on the St. Croix, the Mississippi, Florida’s coast, and the Great Lakes. I am a small business owner of three companies, one which deals with Antique Classic watercraft. My son, Lucien and daughter, Erin have had the pleasure of spending their summers at Bayport Marina, enjoying the wonderful amenities we have to offer.
In 2002 – 2004, I served on Bayport Marina’s board and was Commodore in 2004. My main concerns for Bayport Marina have always been consistency and maintaining our excellence. With my past experience as a BMA Board Member and a small business owner, I believe I have much to offer by rejoining the current board of directors. As BMA finishes up the dock project, it will be the Board of Director’s duty to plan for the future and develop a long range plan to ensure that we continue to be the number one marina on the St. Croix.
I just retired last year from 3M after 37 years. I am a Mechanical Engineer (UW-Madison) but my last position was as a Business Development Manager for the Abrasive Systems Division.
My wife, Karen, and I had rented a slip on A dock prior to purchasing slip A-14 in 2012. We have two married children, Beth & Nick. Additionally, we have two grandchildren, Braden (8) & Aurora (5) who love to be on the boat (Steady Eddy 2) or in the marina pool. We are also members of the St. Paul Sail and Power Squadron. I am currently serving on the board as Treasurer for the 2017/2018 year. We enjoy boating to various squadron events or rafting up with our other boating friends.
Hi everyone. I have been a board member since 2013 and I look forward to working with you to keep our Marina a great facility. I am a civil engineer and currently work for the Foundation Group at Veit, a civil construction company. My wife, Meredith, and I are lifelong boaters having met on the Whitefish Chain when we were 16. We have kept a boat at Bayport since 1997, and have been slip owners (A-10) since 2004. Meredith and I live in Stillwater having moved there in 1991. We enjoy all the amenities that Bayport Marina, the St. Croix River, and the River Valley have to offer. Please stop by A-10 and say hello when you have a chance.
My wife, Shelly, and I have four children. Three are now finished with college and out in the working world. Our fourth is enjoying his first year in college in California. We have enjoyed boating on the St. Croix since 1997. As our interest in boating grew, so too did our boats! We came to Bayport Marina in 2011 when we purchased our 441 Meridian, BobShell. We have subsequently purchased B13 to become a permanent part of the marina, but continue to lease B29 as our marina base.
I graduated from the U of M in 1980 with degrees in Clinical Physiology and Forensics, and undergraduate degrees in Architecture and Construction. I worked for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department and Medical Examiner’s Office and during that time, I served as the Deputy Coroner for Chisago County until an injury forced me into change careers in 1986.
I developed and own LADC Companies, a property management and commercial construction company. We now cover nine states with seven separate divisions. My broad spectrum knowledge and application from commercial construction to asphalt and concrete maintenance/repair would be a sound fit for Bayport Marina. With this skill set and those of the current engineers and many other talents on the board of directors, Bayport Marina would be well represented by a diverse knowledge base, well suited to serve, maintain, and improve efficiencies along with fiduciary goals and management of a marina we are all so proud to serve.
Wife, Vicki, and sons Andrew, David (out of college) & Daniel (Junior, SMU in Dallas, TX).
After spending my entire career with Cummins, in September 2016 I accepted an offer to serve as President of Road Machinery & Supplies. Based in Minneapolis, RMS is the Distributor for Komatsu Construction & Mining equipment, along with several other lines, and has operations throughout Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Marlys and I have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren. We have been at Bayport Marina since 2004 first renting on C-Dock and in 2007 purchasing slip B-02, the best decision we ever made. We have resided in nearby Stillwater for the past 40 years.
I am a Mechanical Engineer and graduate of the University of Minnesota. After 42 years in engineering, I recently retired from PaR Systems, Inc. (www.par.com) a major automation company. As longtime CTO for PaR I was responsible for engineering management, technology portfolio management and innovation for a high-tech company. Now that I have more time I would like to dedicate some of my energy to serve organizations that are important to us as well as preserving and protecting this beautiful St. Croix River Valley. Bayport Marina is one such organization with a rich history and it is truly a jewel on the river; I am honored to serve as a member of its board of directors and believe I can help make our marina even better.
